Higher Screen Resolution in Ubuntu on VirtualBox

He’s a little tip for you. Took me a while to work this one out so thought I should share! If you install a fresh install of Ubuntu inside VirtualBox you end up with a crappy low resolution (like 640 or something), makes it super difficult to do or see anything. Do this:

  1. Hit the little Ubuntu button and search for Terminal, then launch it.
  2. Update all the tings. sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
  3. Now here’s the good bit.sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-x11 virtualbox-guest-dkms

Wait for it all to install then restart your guest machine. BOOM High Resolution loveliness.

You’re welcome.
