Goodbye e107

After over 5 years of using e107 I’m saying goodbye. It’s been a long and not always pleasant ride but the last year or so has been full of good reasons not to continue using or supporting e107. From a user point of view it has a nice administration area but has been left behind by other CMS solutions like WordPress and Joomla, also trying to get any information out of the community or trying to contribute is extremely difficult. Posts are often met with rude responses from the “dev” team. It’s all become a bit too much.

From a development point of view theming isn’t completely straight forward, in comparison to WordPress or ModX it’s just weird!

The biggest reason is the complete lack of direction from the development team. This seems to be a collection of individuals none of who seem to be working to any sort of goals or objectives. The project really needs to take a step back and think about where it wants to go and what features the community are crying out for. Still there is no SEF in e107 one of th key features any CMS or custom solutions needs, not simply for Google but for the Human factor!

I’ll be keeping my eye on e107 to see if they do get their act together, but for now it will be from a distance!
