Getting to grips with CakePHP
So over the past few months the blog has been extremely quiet. Much quieter than I had hoped. This is mainly due to me working on a massive application using CakePHP. It’s taken 7 months to get to where I am with it and there is still work to do, but it has just been released to users for the first round of testing! I’ve learnt a massive amount over the last few months, developing on a Windows environment for a start, using MSSQL and multiple datasources, a shit ton of JavaScript and some pretty hardcore development. It’s been fun!
Having reached this milestone I wanted to show the application “coming to life”. I’ve put together a YouTube video which visualises the work using Gource and Git. It basically reads my Git log and makes look all pretty! You can see times in the video where I was stuck on a particular section and massive activity when I was moving onto something new. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what I have been up to, as you can see I’ve been a bit busy! As I get more time I will start adding some posts on what I have learnt and some tips and tricks I have picked up along the way!
